Pocket-Size Haggadah with Illustrations
Amsterdam, 1778
Pesach Haggadah with instructions and halachos, and Yiddish translation of the songs.
Printed at the end of the Haggadah (leaf 32b) is the song ‘Almachter Go-tt’ in Yiddish, which Ashkenazic communities customarily sang at the end of the Seder.
On the reverse of the title page, there is a fine woodcut illustration depicting the search for chametz: the father cleaning the chametz crumbs from the table, the son bending under the table searching for chametz with a lit candle in his hand, and the mother is holding jugs – perhaps for ‘mayim shelanu.’
Includes 15 decorated initial letters.
Pocket format – only 14 cm in size!
