“He Excelled in His Learning with Remarkable Sharpness”
Beautiful Letter from Rabbi Yerucham Leibowitz Mashgiach of Mir Yeshiva

A complete handwritten and autographed letter by the gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Yerucham Leibovitz, Mashgiach of the Mir Yeshiva for many decades. One of the foremost Ba’alei Mussar, he was the Rebbi of many of the great roshei yeshiva and ba’alei mussar of recent generations.
In the letter, the Mashgiach passionately calls upon others to assist his outstanding student wherever he may go, lavishing extraordinary praise upon him:
"He studied diligently at all times and rose to great heights, achieved much success, and excelled in his learning with remarkable sharpness and accurate mastery…."
At the end of the letter there is a rare signature of the mashgiach, in his full name along with the official title of his position in the yeshiva: "Yerucham Levovitz, Director of the Great Beis Ulpana of Mir, may it be established and blessed."
Rabbi Yerucham HaLevi Leibowitz (1874–1936) was a tzaddik and holy man and served as a guiding light for generations. He studied under the Alter of Kelm, the Alter of Slabodka, and the Chofetz Chaim. He served as Mashgiach in the Radin Yeshiva, and later became Mashgiach in the Mir Yeshiva where he became the spiritual cornerstone of the yeshiva, drawing multitudes to hear his discourses. Inscribed on his gravestone are the words: “He taught Torah and fear of Heaven to the multitudes.”
Among his many students were Rabbi Yechezkel Levenstein (who succeeded him), Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky, Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe, and many others.
