Biurei HaZohar by the Baal HaTanya

Kapust, 1816.
Biurei HaZohar containing the drashos of the Admor Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Baal HaTanya, which he delivered each Friday night.

Printed at the beginning of the sefer is: “A letter to the entirety of the Jewish people, may they live and be well” written by the author’s son, the Mitteler Rebbe. In it, he describes the majestic scene in which these drashos were delivered, and shares how his father would study the Zohar:

“It was visibly clear to all… that Ruach Hokodesh rested upon him, as his light was revealed through the hidden secrets and mysteries of the Torah… And I heard from his holy mouth, of blessed memory, that all his life he had a set practice to study the holy Zohar specifically on Shabbos…

He said about himself that he would not usually study more than one or two pages each Shabbos, but with intense contemplation and great toil – deep, meticulous analysis of each word to ensure it aligned precisely with the truth of the wisdom of Kabbalah. And this was the level of the Arizal, who merited revelations from Eliyahu and Ruach HaKodesh due to his great exertion in the language of the holy Zohar’s teachings…”

These drashos were transcribed by his son, the Mitteler Rebbe, Rabbi Dov Ber, at his father’s request. The Baal HaTanya personally reviewed most of the writings before his passing and found them “very pleasing in his eyes”.
