A scion of the illustrious Sanz dynasty, the
Admor Harav Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov (1908-2000) was the son of Harav Bentzion the Kedushas Tzion of Bobov — son of Harav Shlomo of Bobov (the first), and he was the grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. A genius and leader of thousands who was renowned for his regal appearance and warm smile, Rav Shlomo Halberstam was ordained by the great sages of Galicia and appointed Rav of Bobov in 1931. He was miraculously saved from the Holocaust and fled to the United States where he rebuilt a glorious chassidus in New York.
