Explanations on the Torah portions by Rabbi Dovid Twersky, founder of the Tolna dynasty. Unlike most chassidic works, this sefer was published by the author himself.

Rabbi Dovid of Tolna (1808-1882) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Rabbi Dovid Laikes of Bar, a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. In 1837, he began to lead as Rebbe and Tolna quickly grew into one of the largest chassidic centers in the Ukraine.

Rabbi Dovid of Tolna was renowned as a miracle worker and Jews would flock to him from around the world in order to receive his blessing and prayers. He would distribute amulets as well, and there are numerous stories of people who miraculously saw salvation through him.
