Chidushei Torah by Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem .

Opening bid: $1,200

Chidushei Torah by Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem .

Eighteen [18] pages amounting to a complete booklet, in the handwriting and signature of the great Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, Chief Rabbi of Bodki and Kalvaria and later chief rabbi of Jerusalem, author of
Lephalgot Reuven.

The Netziv of Volozhin referred to his student Rabbi Zelig even in his youth with the title "the living Shas"!

This manuscript contains Talmudic innovations and notes on his writings, showcasing Rabbi Zelig’s exceptional analytical skills. He was one of the last survivors of the deep-rooted Lithuanian Torah tradition in recent generations.

A Gaon Adir, proficient in all the treasures of Torah as if they were at his fingertips – Rabbi Zelig Reuven [1864-1953], a distinguished genius from his youth, was a student of the Netziv of Volozhin and the Chazon Ish of Brisk. He served as a rabbi in the cities of Bodki, Kalvaria, and Smolensk. In 1920, he immigrated to the Land of Israel and served as the Chief Rabbi of the Haredi Community from 1949 until his passing.

Dated: Smolensk, 1916, when he was exiled from his town of Kalvaria during World War I.
