Large Handwritten Kuntres of Chiddushim on the Torah by Rabbi Yehuda Greenwald Av Beis Din of Satmar – 1903.

59] pages in the handwriting of the renowned gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Yehuda Greenwald, Av Beis Din and Rosh Yeshiva of Satmar and one of the leading Rabbanim of Hungary.

The manuscript contains precious chiddushim on various Torah portions, a drashah delivered on the 7th of Adar in the Satmar community, and a eulogy he gave upon the passing of his righteous mother in 1903, in which he attributed all his Torah greatness and fear of Heaven to her merit.

Also included is a drashah for the yahrtzeit of his primary rebbi, the Ksav Sofer, in which he mourns the passing of Rabbi Yeshaya Ehrenfeld, Av Beis Din of Shoran (a grandson of the Chasam Sofer), and the holy Rabbi Moshe of Daash, who both passed away that same year (1903).

Rabbi Yehuda Greenwald (1860-1920), Av Beis Din of Satmar, was a venerable Hungarian sage and beloved disciple of the Ksav Sofer who proposed the shidduch between Rav Yehuda and his niece. He also studied under the Goren David and the Imrei David. His yeshivah was one of the largest in all of Hungary at the time, and he authored several works, among them ‘Shevet Yehuda’ on the Torah, ‘Olelos Yehuda’ on Tehillim and the three-volume ‘Shu”t Zichron Yehuda’.

Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner testified that the floorboards beneath Rabbi Greenwald’s bed were soaked through from the tears he shed while reciting Krias Shema al Hamitah.
